DEPARTMENT OF
MATHEMATICS
The Department of Mathematics was instituted in the year 1968 in tandem with the inception of the College. In 1978, a double main bachelor degree course in B.Sc. Mathematics and Statistics was introduced. In 2001, the course underwent bifurcation, leading to the commencement of separate programs: BSc Mathematics and BSc Statistics.
The department is offering complementary courses for B.Sc. Physics, B.Sc. Polymer Chemistry, B.Sc. Statistics and for Integrated M.Sc. in Computer Science with Specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The department prides itself on maintaining high standard of academic excellence, evident through the Ph.D. degree of each permanent faculty member. Notably, one of them serves as a research supervisor.
